Scott, Wednesday, Trillian and I headed up to Virginia City, NV on June 20, 2011 for some good old fashioned touristy action. Our initial reason for selecting Virginia City was the old cemetery. Scott and I visited Virginia City almost 20 years ago. The old wooden grave markers with the desolate desert flora and the burnt remains of trees was the first time I felt magic of the cemetery—visual moments of history that I wanted to capture on film. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my camera on the trip. We promised ourselves we’d come back as soon as possible to photograph this cemetery that felt like it was stopped in time. Apparently, 18 years can really fly by.
